Plunge Pool FAQs

What is a plunge pool?

Plunge pools by design are small, quick to install, and great for tight spots or tricky back yards. We offer three different sizes, all are rectangle in shape; 9’x20’ ,  9’x16’ and 6’x12’.  Both have a standard depth of 4 ½’.

What does precast mean? What are the benefits of precast construction.

Precast by definition means the concrete is cast in its final shape before installation. So in layman’s terms, we build your pool in an NPCA plant before we deliver it to your backyard.  Each pool has a 6” concrete wall and bottom which is reinforced with steel rebar throughout. The concrete mix is monitored by an elaborate computerized system ensuring consistency and quality in every one of our pools.  A 6” thick shell with the 6 x 6 #5 rebar steel configuration makes this the strongest precast pool in the world!

Why is a Plunge Pool by Easton 4 1/2' deep while competitors offer 5'?

Several of the other companies who sell precast plunge pools do offer their pools 5’ deep.  We believe that 5’ is way too deep.  It is still not deep enough to be considered a diving pool and it is over the head of most kids and getting close with shorter adults.  With close to 50 years of experience building backyard pools, our ownership and construction managers have designed our plunge pools at what we feel is a perfect depth.  Our “traditional” pools are typically 42” in the shallow end.  We have settled on 52” for our plunge pools as this will provide a deeper soak than our traditional pools, but not too deep that it will force shorter people to the end bench or benches.

Do I have to hire an excavator for my project?

No.  With our 45+ years of pool installation experience, Easton Pool & Spa will handle the entire pool installation project for you and line up all required subcontractors.

Can I use my Plunge Pool as a hot tub?

Yes! There is no reason you cannot turn your heater up to the desired temperature and enjoy the benefits of heat therapy with your plunge pool.  We do recommend a tile or PebbleFina finish for this type of use as opposed to a liner.

Can I use my Plunge Pool all year long?

Easton Pool & Spa has been building swimming pools and hot tubs for over 45 years in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  As a respected and tested builder of concrete pools and hot tubs, we do not recommend running your plunge pool from mid-November to early April when temperatures get below freezing and power outages are most frequent.

But what if I really want to run it all year long?

Although not recommended, to run a Plunge Pool in the winter months, we require the following extra steps be taken: 1) adding an insulation package for the walls and pipes  2) Install a generator so in the event of a multi-day power outage, your pump could still work.  3) place your equipment inside a heated structure that is properly ventilated so it can withstand the sub-zero temperatures.  Unfortunately, all warranties on the pool and equipment would be voided if the pool suffers damage in this time period

Can I customize the size and or shape of my Plunge Pool?

No.  Plunge Pools are a specific shape and size so they can be delivered directly to your site in the fastest and most cost-effective way.

Do I need a fence around my plunge pool?

Yes, Massachusetts state fence code requires fencing around any pool that is over 24” deep.

Can I install an auto cover instead of a fence?

This is specific to the town you live in.  Some towns will allow an auto cover in lieu of a fence. Your building department will be able to confirm if this is a viable option.   Easton Pool & Spa ALWAYS recommends a compliant fence around a swimming pool even if an auto cover is an approved alternative.
